Mary Lynne Wilson - A Fight Marked with Grace and Dignity

December 31, 2009

Mary Lynne Wilson, 39, died Monday, December 28, 2009 surrounded by her loving family after a 3 ½ year battle with a rare form of cancer, appendiceal. Her fight was marked with grace and dignity. Read her story here.

Mary Lynne leaves her husband of 14 years, a son and a daughter. She also leaves her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, her sister and brother-in-law, a niece, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.

She was excellent at scrapbooking design and creation, loved Cape Cod and afternoons at the beach with family and friends. She was a classroom volunteer for her daughter and followed her son's sports.

The way in which Mary Lynne battled her cancer was admired by many.  By the time her cancer was found, it had progressed to an advanced stage.  Despite the fear this diagnosis causes, Mary Lynne remained positive and made the most of her life's journey.  Many comments have been shared by family and friends:

"She was a remarkable person with such a zest for life and we all feel very fortunate to have had Mary Lynne in our lives."

"You must have been so proud of her and the way she accepted her illness. She had such a beautiful smile and a special way about her. It was easy to see what an exceptional young woman you had in your life."

"...part of her stays with me. I suspect a part of her stays with many, as how could you not get sucked in to the warmth of her smile and her zest for life."

"Even on her most painful days, she would bring [her daughter] and make sure she was all set for school as she bounced off to be with her friends. She spoke so proudly of [her sons's] hockey endeavors. She acknowledged all the efforts [her husband] made and tried to help how she could. Some days the pain took the sparkle out of her eyes, but soon it would be back."

Mary Lynne requested that memorial donations be made to the 15-40 Connection or Memories of Love.
