How You Can Help
Know Yourself; Check Yourself.
Fighting cancer by educating 15-40 year olds about the enormous importance of establishing a relationship with a health care provider and benchmarking their health through a physical exam requires talent, treasure and time.
The 15-40 Connection's goal is for every 15-40 year old to take action when they notice even subtle changes in their normal health, and to be a strong self-advocate when their instincts tell them something is wrong. These actions will save lives and change survival rates.
Here's how you can help make a difference:
Talent - The 15-40 Connection believes that every person has a unique ability or "talent" they can contribute to making a difference. That talent may be writing, singing, creative thinking, public speaking, social or physical networking, fund-raising, organizing a road race, event planning or generating awareness in other ways. Can you contribute your talent to raising awareness about the importance of Know Yourself; Check Yourself and going to the doctor so we can find and treat cancer at its earliest stages? Treasure - Building and growing a non-profit foundation requires constant financial support. Everything from updating the 15-40.org website to planning and attending events, advertising campaigns, public relations initiatives, partnerships and endorsements all require a "treasure" chest to keep them going. The 15-40 Connection needs the financial support of private and corporate sponsors and community groups to augment adolescent and young adult cancer research with cancer awareness. Time - Do you have a few hours each week to call friends and family and inquire about the last time they had a check-up? Are you a college student who could help spread the word about early cancer detection on campus or through social networks? What ideas do you have? How can your use your time to build awareness and change attitudes? Any time you dedicate to raising awareness of the lack of improvement in cancer survival rates among 15-40 year olds, is time dedicated to saving a lives. Click here to donate your time.
